Introduction to International Legal English: A Course for Classroom or Self-study Use

We have been using this book for several years as part of the Legal English courses we run in Monza Brianza and Como - this book forms the basis of out 'corso propedeutico' - a first step into Legal English for people who already have a base in English but need to learn juridical terminology.
Most other legal English books tend to be very ‘dry’ and only concentrate on vocabulary and contracts. This book offers a lots of listening exercises – far more than any other legal English book at this level.
FOR TEACHERS: you need to have some experience in teaching legal English before attempting to use this book, or invest a lot of time in studying the teacher’s book and reading around the subject. You will have to prepare thoroughly for each lesson if you don’t have experience in teaching legal English.
FOR STUDENTS: if you are reading a law degree and your level of English is already B1 then you could consider using this book for self-study..
N.B. From a teacher's point of view the Teacher's Book is excellent as it helps re-work some of the more complex units into an easier-to-understand format. Also for students wishing to prepare for the ILEC exam I'd recommend investing in the Teacher's book and using the photocopiable exercises at the back as a study tool.
