Stationary & Stationery - are almost exactly the same except for one letter. This makes is very confusing and many people get the two words mixed up.

Stationary - not moving; something that does not move

• We have a stationary bike that we use for working out.
• The bus remained stationary until everyone got off the bus.
• The teacher said “I don't want your books to be stationary all year”.

Stationery - office supplies such as paper, glue, pencils, pens, envelopes etc.

• We need to buy some stationery today.
• I have really pretty stationery, that my friends gave me as a present.
• Our company has special stationery for official company letters.
